A joint special event to mark the canonisation of Cardinal John Henry Newman

The Great Choir of Liverpool Cathedral will join Metropolitan Cathedral Choir for sung Evening Prayer at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral on 7th November at 6 pm and will be followed by a lecture at 7 pm.
The evening on 7th November will begin at 6 pm with a joint sung Evening Prayer at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral featuring the Metropolitan Cathedral Choir joined by the Great Choir of Liverpool Cathedral.
The lecture, 'Heart speaks to heart', begins at 7 pm in the Metropolitan Cathedral's Gibberd Room features Newman scholars the Revd Canon Dr Rod Garner and the Right Reverend Monsignor Roderick Strange. They will share their insights on the influence of John Henry Newman on both the Anglican and Roman Catholic Church. The lecture will conclude with a time for questions and is followed by refreshments.

Speakers
Canon Dr Rod Garner is an Anglican priest, writer and theologian. He is a Hon. Fellow of Liverpool Hope University and Emeritus Canon of Liverpool Cathedral. He is the author of numerous books and his new biography of Cardinal Newman has just been published. He has taught in the UK and America and his particular areas of interest include urban theology, philosophy, preaching and spirituality. He is a Tertiary Member of The Order of the Holy Paraclete.
Right Reverend Monsignor Roderick Strange is a visiting professor at St Mary’s University having previously been Rector of the Pontifical Beda College in Rome for an incredible 17 years. He was ordained a priest in Shrewsbury Diocese in 1969. After working as a parish priest for several years he became Catholic Chaplain to Oxford University and a member of their theology faculty. He was also an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and has had several books and many articles published on pastoral and catechetical subjects with a particular focus on the life of Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman.
