While you’re not able to join us in person to worship at Liverpool, we’ve introduced Prayer for Liverpool
In our digital world, it’s hard to escape the news and we know that many people are feeling quite overwhelmed in the current situation. For our congregation, like for so many of us, being stuck at home is a difficult time but to fight the spread of this horrible disease, we all need to play our part.
Keeping everyone safe and healthy is a key priority and we’ve had to close the doors to the Cathedral for the time being. So while you’re not able to join us in person to worship at Liverpool Cathedral, we’ve introduced Prayer for Liverpool. It’s a way for us to come together as a church community virtually.
You’ll be able to find prayers, view the worship services we’ve filmed or find inspiration from our Education Team on how children can engage with us.
The Dean of Liverpool, The Very Revd Dr Sue Jones said;
"We can no longer go into the Cathedral to worship or pray the prayers that people have left in the Cathedral after their visit, so the question for us was: ‘How can we continue to offer, worship, prayer and activities for children without them physically visiting the Cathedral?’ ‘How can we continue to be a place of encounter?’ Prayer for Liverpool. is one of our answers.
"Through our new website, you can ask us to pray for people who are in need or sick or who have died and two of our clergy will pick up the emails and then pray for them in their daily prayers. We wish people to continue to encounter a form of worship from the Cathedral each week and so we will write a reflection with some prayers weekly based on the Sunday Gospel Lectionary of the church. We hope that our regular members and visitors will pick this up and find it helpful for their thoughts as we journey through this time of isolation and for many this period of fear."
