Liverpool Cathedral @ Merseyside Big History Show & Heritage Exhibition 2016
LIVERPOOL CATHEDRAL is one of more than 50 local history and heritage organisations from across the region taking part in the Merseyside Big History Show & Heritage Exhibition 2016 at St George’s Hall, Liverpool.
On Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th April, between 10am and 5pm each day, the magnificent Grade I listed building in the centre of the city will host the two-day event. Staff from the Cathedral Archives will be on hand with artefacts from our past and details of all our current activities and events.
This year’s show promises to be even bigger and more exciting than ever, with the chance to learn more about our city’s fascinating heritage, meet some Vikings, witness medieval battle re-enactments, browse and buy a variety of antiques, heritage and military memorabilia.
Visiting historians are offering a packed programme of fascinating talks throughout the weekend, running every 30 mins on topics including The Beatles, the Overhead Railway, Merseyside theatres, the Wirral Smugglers and much more.
Don’t miss the special Local History Question Time Panel Event, where visitors can pose their local history questions to a panel of expert historians, including:
- Ken Pye, MD of Discover Liverpool, historian, author, and broadcaster;
- Janet Dugdale, director of The Museum of Liverpool;
- Ken Rogers, journalist and historical columnist;
- and Steve Binns MBE, Liverpool Community Historian.
Tickets for the special guest talks are only £2 each, and for the Local History Question Time Panel only £2.50 each, available on the door on the day.
The Liverpool Town Crier will announce all the special events and attractions across the weekend.
You can also explore the unique neo-classical building with a guided tour of its Great Hall, Concert Room, Courts and Catacombs. And, after all that exploring, why not relax and enjoy some well-earned refreshments in the Great Hall Café which will be serving delicious afternoon teas and other treats.
