A welcome from Dean Sue
It was with sadness that we learned, on Friday April 9th, of the death of HRH Prince Philip. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Queen and the Royal Family at this difficult time. Prince Philip has given a life of dedicated service and as the Archbishop of Canterbury said on Saturday morning we have a lot to learn from his example. On a personal note I will be forever grateful for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme and the way that has formed my life over the years.
May he rest in peace and rise in Glory.
Holy Week and Easter Sunday proved to be an inspirational journey and I am so grateful to the musicians, the clergy team, the technology people and the Vergers. Holy Week and Easter are demanding in ‘normal times,’ but even more so in times of pandemic when rules and regulations keep changing. I am sure you agree we had an excellent choice of both in-person services and online services.
Thank you one and all for your imagination, patience and perseverance in preparing and leading such thoughtful services and reflections. Thanks also go to the flower arrangers who really did excel in producing such magnificent flower displays.
Staff will begin to return and we look forward to seeing them over the next few weeks.
There are some exciting opportunities to engage in science and faith over the next few weeks and to engage with the Church of England’s programme Living in Love and Faith.
I hope that are we journey through this Easter season you will see more signs of the hope that Christ’s resurrection offers us.
Christ is risen he is risen indeed Allelulia.

A Renewed Hope: Parliamentarians tell the Easter Story
Christian MPs and Peers from across the political parties have come together to share a message of renewed hope this Easter, through a recording of the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Watch here

The Bible Course
Starting on the evening of Thursday 15th April, 7-8.15pm, we will be offering on-line via Zoom ‘The Bible Course’, from the Bible Society. The easy-to-access 8 sessions will be ideal for those fresh to the Christian faith, or anyone who wants a refresher about what’s in the Bible and where to find it. The Gilbert-Scott Lectures on Science and Faith 2021
These popular annual lectures will begin on Tuesday 27th April 2021, starting at 7.30pm and live-streamed via FaceBook. They will continue on successive Tuesday evenings.

“Living in Love and Faith”
The Church of England is engaged in a process of discernment around matters of identity, sexuality, relationships and marriage, and every church is encouraged to participate in the small-group discussion materials that accompany the recent report ‘Living in Love and Faith’. We are offering the five-week sessions on Thursday lunchtimes, 22nd April – 20th May incl., 1.00-2.15pm on Zoom.
