Welcome to Liverpool Cathedral e-news. As we continue to move through the lockdown and the pandemic we as a staff continue to offer you worship, blogs and preparation for the Sunday Gospel through our web-site and through our Facebook site.
Please do take a look. Below is a summary of what we are offering for ease of reference. Please do note that the Future Section has changed slightly since last week’s blog.
Change seems to be a recurring theme through these days so please do look out for the unforeseen changes that we have to make.
Amended Blog:
The Cathedral continues to be open every day for private prayer. This means Monday to Saturday 11am till 3pm. Sunday we will be open from 10.30 till 3pm and on Sunday clergy will be in the Cathedral to offer pastoral support to people. If you need pastoral support during the week please ask at the welcome desk and one of the Canons will be available.
The Mezz in the Well is also open for takeaway food and drinks whenever the Cathedral is open.
Worship
Monday – Saturday
Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer and the 12.05 Eucharist will be live-streamed on the Cathedral Facebook page. Please do join us.
After every evening prayer we will be joining other Christians to pray for the nation during this period of lockdown.
Sunday
A pre-recorded Eucharist Service will go out on Facebook at the usual time. At 10.30 the clergy will also celebrate and receive communion on your behalf. This service will be held in the Lady Chapel.

The Future
At present it is our intention on the 22 November to broadcast a pre-recorded Durufle Requiem at 3pm, the usual Choral Evensong time.
On Advent Sunday it is our intention to broadcast a pre-recorded Advent Evensong at 3pm and a pre-recorded Darkness to Light Service at 5.30pm.

Worship with us this week

Pre-booking for Christmas services
Next month we will be offering as many of our special Christmas services as possible, despite the current difficulties. Assuming that the national lockdown ends on 2nd December, these will be: the Nativity Service (6th), Crib and Tree service (13th), and Holly Bough services (19th and 20th), two Christmas Eve services (1.00pm and 3.30pm this year), and the usual Christmas Midnight and Christmas Day services. There will be no Christmas Sequence this year.
Please note: seating capacities for all of these services will be dramatically reduced this year in order to comply with Covid-19 measures. To attend any of our special services you will need to pre-book via EventBrite please.
For those of you who are not on the internet, we will make available a telephone number to ring, and the hours when it will be staffed. Please look out for information in the coming weeks. Tickets on EventBrite will be made available two weeks before each of the services.
Encountering Faith
Our Encountering Faith sessions resume this week. The next gatherings will be on Thursday 19th November, 1-2pm and 7-8pm when we will study Philippians 2:1-11. You can find more information on the following link to the relevant page of our website: /getting-involved/Exploring-Faith.
Supper with the Scriptures

Too Deep for Words: An Advent Course on the Transforming Power of Lectio Divina
Beginning on 26 November 2020, The Revd Mark Waters is running an online course on Lectio Divina each of the Thursdays before Christmas from 7:30pm to 9 pm. The course aims to provide a powerful way of preparing for Christmas through the season of Advent. It will explore the theory behind Lectio Divina as well as allowing for times of practice and discussion. It will also look at how the practice might become an effective and regular part of a prayer life.
There is no charge for the course but please book a place on the following Eventbrite link so that a Zoom link and course papers can be sent to you prior to each session. Please note that you only have to book once for all four sessions:

Micah Liverpool Reverse Advent Calendar Campaign
Micah Liverpool is running its reverse advent calendar campaign again this year. A reverse Advent Calendar uses the same format as an Advent Calendar, but instead of receiving a gift each day throughout Advent you give a gift. On our website we have our reverse Advent Calendar and in each window there is an item that we use in our foodbank parcels. Micah Liverpool Community Markets at Liverpool Cathedral
Micah Liverpool now runs two community market sessions at Liverpool Cathedral on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11am - 2:30pm outside on the Welsford Porch. All are welcome to purchase food and household supplies at heavily reduced prices. Proceeds from the markets will go towards our other Micah programs. Events at Liverpool Cathedral
The Welsford restaurant continues operation in the Well, compliant with all Government and Church of England guidelines. Hot drinks and a limited selection of sandwiches and treats are available for takeaway purchase. Cathedral Shop
We are currently closed and can’t see you in person – however we are listening out to your call…….. The shop telephone will be manned 11am until 3pm Monday to Saturday (with the exception of Monday 9th November). Orders for Delivery or for Collection, we are happy to help.
