Read the latest news from Liverpool Cathedral for Sunday, 24 January 2021.
Welcome from Dean Sue
Welcome to Liverpool Cathedral e-news. As we continue to journey through Epiphany we are encouraged today in our Exploring the Sunday Gospel Material (https://www.prayerforliverpool.org/uploads/1/3/1/2/131286347/_b__9_the_third_sunday_of_epiphany_v2_yp.pdf) to think about wine. I am sure that has brought a smile to your face and at this time we all need a bit of a boost and or a smile.
There are many different events happening on line and I hope they will give you a boost or a smile. It was good to meet some of you at our first Zoom coffee last Sunday. Please do join again this Sunday.
On Sunday afternoon, there is the two Cathedrals service of Prayer for Christian Unity. The guest preacher is our Canon Theologian and the choirs from the two Cathedrals will be participating. So please do go to our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/LiverpoolCathedral) or Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/LiverpoolCathedral) at 3pm for this service.
On February 7 at 3pm we will be live-streaming the Collation and Installation of the new Canon Precentor, the Revd Dr Philip Anderson. The Bishop will be present for that service so please do go to our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/LiverpoolCathedral) for this at 3pm on 7 February. This is not a public act of worship with a congregation, but our usual Sunday afternoon live streamed service. Philip will be presiding and preaching on February 14 at the 10.30 pre-recorded service. Please pray for Philip as he moves this coming week and as he prepares for his ministry among us.
Coffee & Chat Zoom Call
In addition to the pre-recorded service on Sunday mornings at 10:30, all are welcome to join us for a brew over Zoom for fellowship and conversation after the service. All are welcome to join! If you would like the Zoom details, please email Canon Neal at neal.barnes@liverpoolcathedral.org.uk.
Service to Mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Today, Sunday, 24 January, at 3pm, the Metropolitan Cathedral and Liverpool Anglican Cathedral will be worshipping together in a pre-recorded service.
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity began on Monday 18 January and the theme for the week is Abiding in Christ. Our guest preacher will be Revd Canon Professor Leslie Francis, Canon Theologian at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.
I hope you can join us for this time of prayer as we pray for Christian Unity and as we pray for our Christian diversity in our unity. Please go to either of the Cathedrals’ YouTube channels or Liverpool Cathedral Facebook page for the service.
