Our Cathedral won this prestigious award yet again competing against some strong competition.

We are celebrating winning the Liverpool City Region annual tourism award for Best Large Visitor Attraction once again. This is tremendous news for a cathedral which prides ourselves as a place built by the people for the people. It comes when we are expecting to see thousands of visitors come to see the Museum of the Moon

The awards were presented at a gala ceremony at St George's Hall last night where our category included McArthur Glen Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, Liverpool Football Club Tours & Experience and Speke Hall.

Dean of Liverpool, the Very Revd Dr Sue Jones said “I have been Dean for less than a month and have seen Light Night, a moon arrive and now the cathedral winning this fantastic accolade. It confirms to me what I felt when God was calling me here. That the cathedral is a place for the people of Merseyside and is treasured and loved by those people. We are a spiritual and cultural heartbeat for so many who want to visit this great Cathedral and be in the awesome presence of God. This is testament to the great team we have and the diverse activities we do and I am absolutely thrilled to have won”

Paul Smith the Cathedral's Director of Enterprise added “I’m surprised and delighted that we’ve won this Award - which is a recognition of what a unique place Liverpool Cathedral holds in this culturally diverse and exciting city.  The competition for this Award, as with every year,  was extremely strong, so to triumph in this important category feels truly special.  It’s a team effort and an acknowledgement of all the hard work we’ve all put in over the last year.  Well done to everyone at the Cathedral.”
