A journey into silence

10:00 AM - 15:00 PM
A practical course on the use of silent prayer through an introduction to Centering Prayer
Join Revd Mark Waters, a spirtual director and commissioned presenter of centering prayer, for a practical course on the use of silent prayer
This course starts at Liverpool Cathedral on Saturday 9 October, and is followed by weekly online sessions, ending with another in person session at the Cathedral on Saturday 20 November.
St John of the Cross said, “the only language God hears is the silent language of love.” But for many, entering this land of silent prayer is not easy. This course aims to help participants overcome the practical struggles that many of us face when we try to pray in silence, and enable them to establish a regular pattern of silent prayer. It will do this by:
- Teaching and practicing the method of Centering Prayer
- Reflecting on the nature of the God whom we meet in silence
- Exploring the psychological underpinnnings of the practice
- Using the group experience to provide supportive fellow travellers over six weeks
Cost: £40 for the full two days, to include lunch on both days with tickets available to purchase on Eventbrite here.
