Peace: An Online Symposium Liverpool John Moores University and Liverpool Cathedral

The Peace Doves installation from renowned British artist, Peter Walker brought over 150,000 visitors to Liverpool Cathedral over the summer of 2021 and generated media coverage nationally and internationally.  It also presented a much-needed opportunity for many to reflect on peace and its meaning.

 

Following on from the installation, Liverpool John Moores University and Liverpool Cathedral are organising a one day online Peace Symposium on Tuesday 9th November 2021 to consider such issues in our often turbulent world. 

 

The Zoom symposium will be introduced by Dr Emma Roberts from Liverpool John Moores University and The Very Revd. Dr Sue Jones, Dean, Liverpool Cathedral. 

 

It will include a range of eminent academic voices including a reflection from Dean Sue Jones, as well as:

  • Professor Francis McGlone (School of Natural Sciences and Psychology, Liverpool John Moores University)
  • Dr Kathryn Walchester (Department of English, Liverpool John Moores University)
  • The Revd. Canon Dr Mike Kirby (Canon Scientist, Liverpool Cathedral/Radiotherapy Physics Lecturer, The University of Liverpool)
  • Canon Dr. Randolph J. K. Ellis The St Mary’s Centre (A Christian Research Institute), Llys Onnen, Abergwyngregyn
  • Jane McKendrick, Claire Hanlon, Clare Maxwell, Professor Valerie Fleming (Liverpool John Moores University, Faculty of Health)
  • Dr Robert MacDonald (Reader in Architecture) and Anthony Malone (Photographer and Senior Lecturer in Architecture) both from Liverpool John Moores University
  • The Revd Dr Tania ap Sion (Reader of Religions, Humanities and Education, Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln)
