Education at Liverpool Cathedral
Each visit is an active learning experience designed to encourage pupils to ask questions.
We hope to provide experiences and memories that will last beyond the length of their visit. We are always happy to adapt and develop our workshops to meet your pupils’ particular needs. We want to make teachers happy too! So we will do everything we can to make sure that your visit runs smoothly.
Pupils at Remembrance Day Workshops were asked to write what they would tell people about their visit to the Cathedral: "I am going to say that they should visit the Cathedral because it is a great place"
"It was a fantastic day The children really enjoyed it and the staff brought the best out of them"
"Very well planned and the half hour workshops were well timed to keep the children's attention and focus"
"I just wanted to say how much our students from both St Julie’s and our partner school in Madrid enjoyed the visit to the Cathedral on Saturday. Your colleagues made us most welcome and all of us had a thoroughly good time both walking around the Cathedral and on the viewing platform at the top of the tower".
An outstanding feature is the experiences provided... which makes activities fun and learning vibrant so pupils see connections between ideas
It was a great day. So well organised and the children thoroughly enjoyed it. They took a lot away from the day, learnt a lot about the cathedral and enjoyed the arts and crafts that went along with the learning.
Children were really interested and loved walking around the cathedral. Information was suitably challenging for their age level.

Introduction to the Team
Our talented schools team is made up of experienced qualified teachers, education guides, arts practitioners and others, all of whom have a passion for the Cathedral, learning outside the classroom and the creative arts.
Our Facilities
The Education Centre has two self-contained classrooms at the rear of the Cathedral (East End). Children’s coats and bags may be left here if you have booked workshop sessions. Public toilets are available within the Cathedral. The Well area of the Cathedral is usually available for booked school groups to eat their packed lunches. The Education rooms are also available to hire for schools’ own self-guided activities, teacher INSET, conferences and seminars.
Teacher training
The Education team run sessions for teachers and those in training, based around the Cathedral’s education programme. Please contact the Education Office for more details on how we can tailor sessions to meet your needs.
